Ear Posting 101
If you make the decision to have ears cropped, you are committing yourself to a process that can take months for ears to stand correctly.
Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY but it requires patience, consistency, and, of course LOVE!
"Nothing worth having comes easy"
Let's get posting!
First thing first....posting is not difficult! Always come in with that mindset! YOU CAN DO THIS!
What you need for posting is actually minimal. I use backer-rod (sold at most Home Depots/Lowes), Duct Tape, and Hampton Adams Medical Sports tape....and that's it!
Start by measuring the ear. And cutting the backer-rod to the appropriate size.
After backer-rod is cut, wrap 'length wise' with duct tape.
Duct Tape should never touch the ear, its purpose is to make the backer-rod stiffer
After backer-rod is wrapped in duct-tap, back wrap the duct tape with medical tape (I use Hampton Adams Medical Sports Tape)
The key is, to prep everything you need before you start harassing our furry friend! This includes cutting strips of medical tape about 6 inches long. You should need around 3-4 strips per ear. ALWAYS cut strips and NEVER wrap directly from the roll of tape. Wrapping from the roll can result in the wrapping being to tight around the ear and cause necrosis.
After everything is prepped let's post!
